Orientation

Liberty University Center for Medical and Health Sciences

Orientation is a Requirement

All new Liberty University osteopathic medical students are required to attend Orientation for both in-person and online presentations. Dates and details for the Class of 2026 orientation are pending. The schedule will be posted soon with each day of orientation containing specific need-to-know information, as well as activities designed to help the class get-to-know one another and prepare for the semester ahead.

Note: the Orientation schedule is subject to change.

Vehicle Parking Pass

All student-doctors who plan to bring a vehicle with them and keep on campus throughout the semesters must first indicate their intent during Financial Check-In and then register with Liberty University Police Department (LUPD). When you arrive during orientation, please bring your government ID, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance to complete the process.

The Flames Pass

Don’t leave home without it. The Flames Pass is your Liberty University ID card. The pass acts as a key to unlock student-access granted doors, campus services, as well as grants access to activities both on and off-campus. More details are available from ID & Campus Services. You will use your Flames Pass throughout your entire medical curriculum.

Obtaining a Flames Pass

It’s easy to get your Flames Pass! You can even get it prior to orientation from ID & Campus Services. If you are unable to do so, an opportunity to complete the process will be provided during orientation.

Are family and friends allowed at orientation activities?

No, family and friends are not allowed at any orientation activity unless instructions are specifically provided.

Class Registration During Orientation

Students are registered for predetermined course schedules each semester, and the established curriculum must be followed in sequential order. For more information concerning class registration, visit the LUCOM Registrar’s site.

Scheduling with Specific Offices During Orientation

During Orientation Week, a full schedule for students allows an overview of the COM and the resources available to students, as well as an overview of the curriculum and student obligations. There is little “free time” for faculty, staff, and the student body. While there are casual and informal interaction periods with the faculty and staff throughout the orientation schedule, there is not an opportunity for structured appointments. After orientation, requests to meet with specific departments are welcomed via email.
