Mission Trips

January 21, 2009 : Jennifer Gelar

As a student in L.U., the world’s largest evangelical university, you will have many opportunities to go on mission trips locally and around the globe. Many mission trips are offered through Liberty’s Center for Global Ministries which can be accessed at www.luglobal.com. They operate Light Ministries and Xtreme Impact. Students who organize their own mission trips are required to register the trip with the Center for Global Ministries. You certainly don’t have to be majoring in Missions or Cross-cultural studies in order to get involved in missions.

While there are many mission organizations that visit the Liberty all year long, Liberty has a week set aside for Missions. During Mission Emphasis Week every Spring dozens of mission organizations are on campus. Liberty students have the privilege to speak with the missionaries face to face and find out more about specific organizations.

Those who are looking to do missions long-term, such as semester- or year-long internships through the LU Abroad program, may have a mission’s counselor on campus. Mission counselors are former missionaries who help students chart out their goals, offer guidance and provide spiritual support. For students who have specific questions, please contact Liberty’s Mission Mobilization expert Glenn Kurka at glen.kurka@crossworld.org or by phone at (434) 509-3988.

With Liberty’s dedication to see students become Champions for Christ, you will find that Liberty offers plenty of opportunities to get involved in missions. The options are numerous and the possibilities are countless.
