On Monday evening, Liberty Head Women's Tennis Coach was the recipient of the FLAMESPY Award for Coach of the Year, honoring his leadership this past year with the Lady Flames.

Maren guided the Lady Flames to uncharted waters during the 2013-14 season, including a school record seven Big South wins and tying a program record with 15 overall victories (15-9 record, 7-2 BSC).

The Lady Flames were the No. 3 seed at this year's Big South Women's Tennis Championship and advanced to the semifinals before losing to No. 2 seed and eventual tournament champion Winthrop.

Under Maren's guidance, the women's tennis team received it's first-ever ITA national ranking when Liberty was ranked No. 74 on March 4, 2014.

Maren's doubles pairs of Belen Rivera/Brittany Yang (No. 2) and Cameron Richard/Valerie Thong (No. 3) were named Big South Women's Tennis Flight winners when the league released its annual postseason awards. Rivera and Yang were also named to the Big South all-conference doubles team.
