From the top rows of the west grandstand at Oregon's Hayward Field, LibertyFlames.com will provide live blog coverage of the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Redshirt senior Ryan Smith will be Liberty's lone competitor on the meet's opening day, participating in the men's shot put. The event will begin at 8:30 p.m. Eastern, but Smith will not throw until closer to 9:30.

There will be two flights of 12 throwers, and Smith will be the first competitor in the second flight. He will take three throws, where the Georgia native will try to qualify for the nine-member finals.

I will once again use the interactive CoveritLive blog interface. This format allows readers to submit comments and questions throughout the day, as you track your favorite Flames and Lady Flames' progress.

Without further ado, go Liberty!
