Due to the specialized nature of the law collection, many materials may be used only in the law library. The following are examples of items that do not circulate outside the law library: statutes, session laws, reporters, citators, digests, encyclopedias, microforms, individual volumes from multi-volume treatises, loose-leaf services, reference materials, periodicals, and reserve materials.
Books from the circulating collection can be checked out by law students as well as residential Liberty University students for three (3) weeks. Due dates are printed on a slip at the time of check-out. Circulating materials may be renewed once unless there is a hold on the item. Renewals can be performed in person at the Circulation Desk or over the telephone during regular library hours. All materials are subject to recall once the original borrowing period has expired. Materials needed for course reserves are subject to recall at any time.
Although the law library maintains an excellent collection of legal and law-related materials, some books needed for research projects may need to be borrowed from other libraries. Interlibrary loan request forms for law students are available at the Circulation Desk. Requested material typically requires seven to ten days to arrive by mail. Borrowers will be charged for any fines or other charges assessed by the lending library if an item is late, damaged, or not returned at all.
Four group study rooms are available in the law library for the sole use of law students. All others will be asked to vacate the group study room. Group study rooms are intended for collaborative work between two or more law students. Individual law students may use an available group study room, but will be asked to study elsewhere if a group needs to use the room. No personal items may be left in the group study rooms. All personal items left in a group study room on a large study table, or in an individual study carrel will be collected and will be available for retrieval at the Circulation Desk of the library.
Photocopy service is available to law students through the Pharos management station in the computer lab. The Pharos print and photocopy management system charges each student’s print and photocopy costs to their personal Pharos print account. Students are responsible for all print and photocopy costs charged to their personal Pharos account. Those costs are transferred to the student’s business account monthly.
Liberty University Information Services (LUIS) maintains a campus-wide wireless network. This network allows ubiquitous student access to the internet and other network resources. Wireless access points are available throughout the law library as well as the school of law.
Instructions for connecting to the Liberty wireless network are available from http://www.liberty.edu/index.cfm?PID=22929#!KB0010146
