Associate Dean Elected to LHL Board of DirectorsFebruary 08, 2007
Jory H. Fisher, Associate Dean for Career & Professional Development and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Law, was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of Lawyers Helping Lawyers (LHL) for a two year term. Founded in 1985, the Richmond-based organization provides confidential, non-disciplinary assistance to legal professionals in Virginia who experience professional impairment related to mental health and substance abuse.
Deeply committed to public and community service, Dean Fisher practiced law in Virginia for fifteen years as a bilingual assistant public defender, senior legal aid attorney, assistant county attorney, and court-appointed attorney with a focus on child advocacy before she was appointed as a charter faculty member of Liberty University School of Law.
In addition to her role on the LHL Board, Dean Fisher also serves the community through volunteering her time at local non-profit organizations. Currently, Dean Fisher is a member of the Board of Directors of the Miller Home of Lynchburg (a residential home for non-delinquent girls who cannot live with their own families). She also supervises Liberty University law students who participate in the Street Law program to provide practical, participatory education about law to youths at various alternative education settings in Lynchburg. Dean Fisher is also a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for CASA of Central Virginia and is a long-term member of the Virginia Bar Association’s Commission on the Needs of Children.
