Last Friday, November 5, the Business and Transactions Law Society at Liberty University School of Law hosted a networking and informative lunch centered on the current issues facing Tax Planning attorneys in Virginia.
An open panel consisted of Mr. Ron Feinman of One World, Legacy and Estate Planning in Lynchburg, VA; Mr. G. Raye Jones of MartinWren, P.C. in Charlottesville, VA; Mr. Timothy J. Vitollo of The Gilbert Law Firm, P.C. in Moneta, VA; and Professor Phillip Manns of Liberty University School of Law.
Topics featured for the open discussion were the changes affecting clients who established estate/ tax plans under the Bush tax cuts, the new estate tax, the little or noticeable effort in re-learning tax planning under the ‘new’ standards, the amount of effort in preventing excess taxation for future clients, and information about CLE classes assisting with these types of changes. Additionally, the issues of practicing tax attorneys and self-education were discussed.
