Recommended Computers

The most important technology that you will need at Liberty University is a computer and Liberty’s IT Marketplace offers several kinds of computers depending on what you want and need for your classes. Liberty has partnered with Dell, Lenovo, and Apple to offer students discounts on computers from all three manufacturers.

Recommended Hardware Specifications

Students are also able to bring their own computers from home to use on Liberty’s campus. If you will be bringing your own computer, we recommend the following hardware specifications so that you can comfortably run multiple applications as well as take full advantage of Liberty’s network:

  • Dual core processor
  • 2 GB RAM (3 GB if using Windows Vista)
  • 60 GB hard drive
  • 128 MB of video memory
  • Wireless-N is recommended, but not mandatory

  • Windows Vista
  • Mac OS X 10.5 or newer

Recommended Software

Liberty has also partnered with multiple software vendors to offer students great discounts on some of the software that they need for their computers, too. The Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Access, OneNote, etc.) is available at a substantial discount from the IT Marketplace, along with much of the software that is required by individual classes in a variety of majors.

The IT Marketplace also has a wide variety of computer accessories available for students to purchase, such as printers, blank CD’s and DVD’s, computer monitors, digital cameras, and much more!
