IT Operations manages, provisions, and maintains the computing systems of Liberty University and associated business groups with the goal of 100% uptime and 24x7x365 availability.

 

Systems Administration

Systems Administration is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, management, and repair of the various servers and services in use by the University. Each team within Systems Administration focuses on a specific set of technologies and has a unique role in supporting the overall health and growth of the IT environment.

 

Services Provided:

Operations Command Center

The Operations Command Center monitors and supports all IT systems and services provided by LUIS, serving as the first line of service support with a specific focus on preventing unscheduled downtime, increasing the speed of incident resolution, and performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.

 

Enterprise Storage

The Enterprise Storage architecture and operation team develop, apply and support Enterprise Storage and Backup Infrastructure processes, tools, and environments.

 

Microsoft Infrastructure

The Microsoft Infrastructure Team administers all of the Microsoft products and services that drive University success, including Office365, Dynamics CRM, and Identity & Account Management.

 

General Systems

The General Systems Team designs and supports multiple applications that deliver the web presence of the University as well as authentication, banner servers, and blackboard servers. They are in close communication with IT Development teams to ensure a smooth and efficient transition for each application from the design stage all the way through deployment to end users.

 

Data Infrastructure

The Data Infrastructure Team manages the numerous Oracle and MSSQL databases that support critical University applications like Blackboard, Banner, and the Data Warehouse. As the use of data analytics continues to increase, the DBA team also works to continually improve data accessibility and security. 

 

Systems Infrastructure

The Systems Infrastructure Team plans for and supports the underlying storage and virtualization technologies that serve as the foundation for most University services. Data protection is also of critical importance to the team as they ensure that each applicable service or data set is appropriately replicated and stored for long-term retention.

 

Data Center & Auxiliary Services

The Datacenter and Auxiliary Services team manages the University’s main data centers to ensure a steady physical infrastructure, maintain virtual machines and various hardware intensive services such as dining.

 

Network Services

Network Services plans and maintains the network infrastructure on campus and in auxiliary facilities owned by the University. With hundreds of miles of Ethernet & fiber optic cabling, two data centers, and several hundred wireless access points, Network Services keeps the University community connected.

Infrastructure and Media Solutions

IT Infrastructure and Media Operations is responsible for establishing Liberty's campus-wide network, which makes use of everyday products ranging from mobile devices to stadium sound systems possible.

 

Services Provided:

  • Campus Wireless - supports a campus-wide wireless network. This network allows you to access the internet and other network resources while in range of one of our many wireless access points.
  • Wireless point-to-point – connects remote LU sites via wireless.
  • Infrastructure cabling – provides all data network cabling, including copper and fiber.
  • Installation of Audio/Visual cabling for TVs, projectors, speakers, etc.
  • Classroom/conference room technology installation, configuration, and support.
  • Crestron controls for projector screens, projectors, sound, lighting, shades.
  • Large venue (stadium) audio/visual installation and support; scoreboards, speaker systems, video walls, etc.
  • Project management team supports all IT tasks on construction projects.
