Site Based: This program asks a volunteer to go to the child’s elementary school once a week for one hour and spend time with the child during their lunch and recess time or after-school. A volunteer can play games; help with schoolwork or just talk and hang out together. College students are encouraged to sign-up for this program due to the flexibility of the time commitment. Requirements include the following background checks: Criminal History Report, Child Protective Services Report, two personal references and a personal interview/training session. The volunteer is responsible for their own transportation.
Community Based: The volunteer must be at least eighteen years old and have a valid driver’s license and transportation. Volunteer must commit for at least a full calendar year and a minimum of eight hours per month. You will pick them up, spend time with them doing activities you both enjoy and take them back home. Requirements include the following background checks: Criminal; History Report, Child Protective Services Report, DMV Report, proof of Auto Insurance, three personal references, a home visit and a personal interview/training session.
