Frequently Asked Questions

The "Information Age," driven primarily by the Internet, has significantly increased the amount of readily accessible digital content. This is a tremendous asset for those teaching and learning in an academic setting. However, the breadth and complexity of copyright issues have increased exponentially as well. In addition to the traditional ‘print’ copyright issues, we now have multiple media formats—DVDs, audio recordings, streaming videos, digital images and photos, and electronic texts—which must be addressed.

This website was developed to provide guidance to the Liberty University community on how to address copyright issues.* Whether you’re a student, a faculty member, or staff, you encounter copyright issues on a daily basis. In short, copyright is everyone’s responsibility.
