CSER 551-001: MIRIAM'S HOUSE
Supervisor: Sarah
Quarantotto (847-1101 or E-mail)
This is a transitional housing program designed to end the cycle of homelessness. Miriam's House is preventative in nature for the children and rehabilitative for the adults by offering comprehensive social service programs and daily personal encouragement and support. This will be an excellent opportunity for students to participate in a program that meets the needs of homeless women and children in our community. Currently, we have very limited needs for volunteers in our daycare to assist with the children.

CSER 552-001: THE GATEWAY VOLUNTEER PROGRAM (FOR MEN ONLY)
Supervisor:
Julie Mello (846-3311 ext. 4 or E-mail) or Lisa S. Dibble (846-3311 or E-mail)
The Gateway is a program of New Land Samaritan Inns, Inc., a local non-profit organization. The Gateway is a transitional living program for homeless men who are in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Residents are housed for up to two years and receive substance abuse counseling and other supportive services as they learn to make better choices and rebuild their lives. All residents work and pay rent, attend a minimum of five 12-step meetings weekly, are breathalyzed nightly and randomly drug screened for accountability. This is excellent training for Ministry, Psychology, Counseling, and Human Services majors. There are many different volunteer opportunities available including working directly with residents. Please contact Julie Mello if interested.
