CSER 216-001: ELEMENTARY MINISTRIES

This is an in-depth Christian/Community Service training program to prepare the student for future service to Christ by providing the following types of opportunities:

  • Training in ministering to children to prepare the student for a career in education or a ministry in a local church.

  • Training in parenting as practical skills and attitudes are developed.

  • Experience in the management of resources towards the accomplishment of a desired goal. This will benefit the business student as well as anyone who would be managing resources in the future.

  • Experience in working with people of all ages. This valuable experience will be accumulated under the direction of professionals with a rich background to share with the student.

The student will choose one of the following areas of specialization. For the entire academic year, the student will have a regular position of service in this area. He will be required to attend the various training and planning meetings as well as the weekly program where he ministers.

Supervisor: Toy Hine (434-592-4279 or Email)
These ministries are committed to the purpose of seeing children receive the finest in Christian education. The many programs and activities in the primary Division seek to capture the interest and attention of the child so that he will listen, learn, and apply the Christian principles to his own life.

Christian/Community Service students receive training as they observe the application of these techniques and as they take part themselves. Students will also utilize specialized abilities in music, puppetry, audiovisuals, and crafts, in addition to developing small and large group ministry skills.

The minimum requirement for this Christian/Community Service is the weekly service and teachers training meeting.

Ikids:
The student will be assigned to a specific special needs child during one service time. This ministry is available Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

Special Events:
The student will be assigned to help with special events such as Kid's Karnival and VBS.

Office:
The student will help in the office during the week with needed preparation for our different children services.

The Elementary Ministries are passionate about God and kids!  It is our desire that every child discover the God who created them and loves them and the God who wants to have a personal relationship with them.  We facilitate this discovery and learning all week long in small group and large group settings.  As students leave our ministry, we desire for them to know God first as their Savior, a friend they trust and spend time with and that they begin to see Him as a trusted guide who will lead them on their journey through life!

CSER students will receive hands-on training as they serve in one of our areas alongside our leaders.  A huge benefit to them is that they will find their relationship with God growing deeper and stronger as a result of serving and pouring into the lives of kids!
