Thursday, April 28, 2016 Basic Turabian Title Page

The title page is one of the most important parts of your paper. It lets the reader know the main details of your paper: what it is about, who wrote it, what class it was written for, and when it was written. It may seem simple, but it is very important to pay attention to every detail. This is vital information for the reader to know, and having a correctly formatted title page makes your paper look professional.

Your professor will dictate the exact requirements for each title page you write. Pay very close attention to the assignment instructions. For now, however, I will give you instructions for a basic title page.

  • First, you will type the title about a third of the way down the page.
  • If you have a subtitle, type a colon after your title, hit enter, and start your subtitle on the next line.
  • About two thirds down the page, type your name, course name and number, and the date.
  • All of these elements should be centered.

Not too bad, right? All of this information comes straight from the Turabian Manual by Kate L. Turabian, which you can buy for more in depth information. Also, don’t forget that all of the tutors here at the Writing Services would love to help you go over the formatting and other aspects of your paper! Feel free to make an appointment or stop by and see us!
