Where Faith Begins

Where does faith begin?  Does faith begin to take seed when we have control over our lives or does it begin when we have less control?  Let's look at 3 different situations:

  1. The Woman in Luke 8:43-48: Verses 43-44 read, "And there was a woman who had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she spent all of her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone.  She came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased."
  2. The Blind Beggar in Luke 18:35-43: Verses 35-38 read, "As He drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.  And hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what this meant.  They told him, 'Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.'  And he cried out, 'Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!'"
  3. Peter in Matthew 14:22-33: "Verses 28-30 read, "And Peter answered Him, 'Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.'  He said, 'Come."  So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.  But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, 'Lord, save me.'"

Note that in all three passages, Jesus speaks to each person about his or her faith."  Perhaps our faith is made stronger when we have exhausted our options and we must look to Him.

Psalm 62:1-2 says, "Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.  Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken."  Online Community, are you trusting Jesus today or are you trusting in your abilities and resources?  Feel free to comment below.  God bless.
