God's Presence During Our Pain

Friends, have you lost a loved one in your family this past year?  If so, we are very sorry for your loss.

Dealing with the loss of a family member is difficult and overwhelming.  One of my brothers died in a car accident when he was 19 years-old.  My family grieved and mourned the loss for years.  There were days that I would just tear up if I thought about Jeff.  Today, the tears do not come as often; however, I still think about him every day and reflect on what a great brother he was.

The Bible has much to say about God's presence and activity during our pain:

  • Psalms 34:18, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."
  • Psalms 56:8, "You keep track of all my sorrows.  You have collected all my tears in Your bottle.  You have recorded each one in Your book."
  • Psalms 147:3, "He heals the broken hearted, binding up their wounds."
  • Matthew 5:4, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."

For me, God's perfect timing has helped to heal my pain.  If you would like to share your story, select "comments" below.  Know that we are praying for you.

God bless.

Ted Whitney
