Inspection Time
On occasion, car owners need to have their automobiles inspected for safety. In a similar fashion, we should take time to inspect our personal relationship with God.
Some examples of personal inspection:
1. Do I respond well to correction? Or, do I display a bad temper?
2. Am I normally a joyful person or am I grumpy? How would my family describe me?
3. Do I obey Jesus immediately, partially or is it altogether delayed?
Let's focus on the third question. You see, our obedience is a reflection of our love for God. John 14:15 says, "If you love Me, you will obey My commandments." Ponder this for a moment.
Here are some examples of obedience in the book of Luke. Read through these passages and determine the type of responses Jesus received.
Passage Person Command Response
Luke 5:4-5 Peter Put out into the deep water and let down the nets for a catch We’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets. Luke 5:27 Levi Follow Me Levi got up, left everything and followed Him Luke 6:6-11 Man with shriveled hand Get up and stand in front of everyone And so he got up and stood there Luke 8:26-39 Demon-possessed man Return home and tell how much God has done for you. So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him Luke 9:1-6 Twelve disciples He sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the Gospel and healing people everywhere Luke 9:59 Another man Follow Me Lord, first let me go and bury my father Luke 10:25-29 Expert in the law Do this and you will live Who is my neighbor?
Schedule that inspection soon.God bless.
