Explaining Christmas

How do you explain Christmas to a child?  Your neighbor?  An atheist?  A family who has recently lost a loved one?  Our delivery may vary; however, the message is the same.   Here are some explanations for Christmas that we should talk about:

John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Mark 10:45 says, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

Luke 4:18 says, "The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because The Hancock Welcome Center decorated for ChristmasHe has anointed Me to proclaim good news to the poor.  He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor."

Luke 19:10 says, "For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost."

John 10:10b says, "I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly."

1 John 3:8b says, "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil."
