One of the things that distinguish Liberty University from many schools is its code of conduct called the Liberty Way. Yes, some students try daily to abide by the Liberty Way (thank you) and some students have it made up in their mind to break the Liberty Way every day especially on the weekends. Well, I have a message for all the people I like to call the “Liberty Way Breakers” (hmm..sounds like the next LU B-Boy Crew). I’m admonishing you, just because you didn’t get caught last weekend when you went that “get together” aka “party with a lot of drinking, some drugs and maybe some other unmentionable activities,” please know that what goes around comes around. Hence, “If you break the Liberty Way it just may come back and break you!”.
Remember, regardless of how easily it is to deceive man, you cannot deceive God. So, for all my Liberty Way Breakers or individuals who are reading this and maybe living a deceptive life; I have several scriptures, but I will share three that keep me accountable. Proverbs 15:3, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, watching the evil and the good.” Like I said earlier, you cannot deceive God and most definitely hide from Him. Another scripture that holds me accountable is James 4:17, “Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.” OUCH, that scripture steps on my toes every time I read it. Finally, James 4:7 which says, “Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” This scripture reminds me if I just submit to God (my thoughts and bad motivations) and resist the devil, I will have victory over my temptations.
I have to stress this again to all students, “If you break the Liberty way it just may come back and break you!”. If you have broken the Liberty Way already this semester, I challenge you from this day forth to do your best not to break it again. Also, ask God’s forgiveness. For the individuals that are reading this and are living in sin, I have a challenge for you to take this step of getting your relationship right with God found in 1 John 1:9 which says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Then I challenge you to take this step found in the latter part of Philippians 3:13 and all of verse 14, “…forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”. Don’t waste your life at Liberty and money because you keep getting into trouble. Matter of fact; don’t waste your life all together by scheming and deceiving people every day to gratify your fleshly desires. Take the challenges above and keep moving forward beginning today.
