Are you Engaged in Your Faith?
As Disciples of Christ, we are becoming more like Christ every day. Right?
Are you engaged in your faith or are you just sitting back?
Read these passages and take note of what we're to do:
John 13:34-35: 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Galatians 5:22-23: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
1 Corinthians 13:1-8a: "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails."
Summary of those verses: We are to:
- Love on another.
- Exhibit the fruits of the Spirit.
- Love others.
We are to love. We don't just sit back and wait for the Holy Spirit to make us loving. We get up and demonstrate His love to our family, our coworkers, our neighbors and a lost world.
Prayer: Father, we pray for our friends who are studying with us today. May Your Spirit guide our steps and encourage us to walk in faith. Thank You for this opportunity to know You and become more like You. Amen.
