Requirements of Prayer
This Christmas season, what are you praying about? Who are you concerned for? There are requirements for prayer:
- Humility - Psalm 66:18
“If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened”
- Recognition of His Mercy - Daniel 9:18
“Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.”
- Persistence - Luke 11:9-10
9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
- Faith - Matt. 21:22
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
- Boldness - Hebrews 4:15-16
15 “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”
What’s holding you back from praying today?
