Wednesday, February 6, 2013 One Year Later

Exactly one year ago (Feb. 6, 2012), I published my first post as a student blogger at Liberty University. A lot has changed since I wrote that first post, and most of it has been for the better. Throughout my first year as a blogger, I have been blessed with many incredible experiences and opportunities, and I have enjoyed sharing my story with you.

Shortly after I began blogging, I enjoyed opportunities to get valuable training in my area of study, Broadcast Journalism. I had never filmed anything, but I took a basic video class, and, last February, I got the opportunity to participate in a 48 hour film competition.

In my next semester, I began getting my hands on some incredible cameras by filming for a show called “Top Plays Around Liberty” and shooting live NCAA events. I entered all of these opportunities with little experience or qualifications, but patient people helped me develop skills and learn a lot about broadcasting.

Filming athletic events has given me valuable experience for my future field.

In the fall of 2012, I took my first journalism class and gained a lot of knowledge about writing in the field of communication.

While I gained knowledge and experience in my area of study, I grew in a couple of other ways. With the guidance of dynamic speakers and strong Christian friends, I grew closer to God. In the spring of 2012, I took New Testament Survey, with Dr. Love, and saw the Bible in a new way.

While I was developing skills in my area of study and growing spiritually, I was also making memories. Throughout the last year, I’ve enjoyed many incredible experiences, with my friends, that I will remember for years to come.

Over the last year, I have made memories that will last a lifetime.

Looking at where I was a year ago and where I am today makes me thankful for all the people who helped me prepare for my career, experience spiritual growth, and make incredible memories.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my story at Liberty University over the last year. I hope that my blog posts have given you some insight into what life is like at Liberty. I recently took some time to look through some of my posts from throughout the year. I was amazed by how many incredible experiences I’ve enjoyed and how many people have had an impact on my life. Check out my ten favorite post from the year below!
