Thursday, November 1, 2012 Happy Fall Y'all!

For the record, I never say “y’all.” I just had to make sure you all knew that. However it made for a nice catch phrase, so this time will be an exception ;)

That being said, the fall season has definitely been transforming the campus. And it is fantastic! The leaves are changing, the humidity is (finally) taking a chill pill, carved pumpkins are starting to show up around campus, and of course there’s all the fun activities associated with autumn. I got to experience a couple of them this weekend:

Saturday morning a few of us took a hike up to the monogram. I had never been up there during the fall, and I so desperately wanted to see the view when all the leaves were changing. It was totally worth it! I’d absolutely put it on the “List of things you must do/see while at Liberty.” Plus there are plenty of other trails to take advantage of while you’re here.

The view was awesome!

Fall Parties!
The first party I attended was hosted by Liberty’s Student Activities, and it was held at the new Equestrian Center. I hadn’t been to the equestrian center yet, so when I learned that they’d be offering a free shuttle service from campus to the party, I knew I had to go check it out.

There were so many different activities going on up there! The event was open to the community and attendees had the option of going on a hayride, picking out and painting a pumpkin, throwing around a football or Frisbee, petting the horses, and, thanks to Reba Farm Inn, there was even the opportunity to ride horses! There was also free popcorn and snacks, live music, a pumpkin painting contest, and a bobbing for apples game.

After that party I immediately headed to the PsyComm fall party. All of the psychology department was invited to come out and celebrate fall. The location was picture-esque with the barn, lake, trees, and mountains in the background. Kids hung out in the yard throwing footballs and playing in the leaves until dinnertime. On the menu were hand-dipped corn dogs, French fries, mac and cheese, and a fire to roast your own hotdog as well as a plethora of desserts. Including my favorite, s’mores :) There was also a raffle for some prizes like gift cards and Psychology shirts. And to wrap up the night they played a movie on the side on the barn – how cool is that?!

Needless to say, this is my favorite time of year, and Liberty is a great place to celebrate it!
