Monday, October 29, 2012 Scaremare - Screams and Laughter

Think of a haunted house that mixes creepy clowns, strobe lights, tight corners, and people that pop out of nowhere. Yes, now imagine it all with scary music in a dark and creepy warehouse. That's what we like to call Scaremare. It started nearly 40 years ago as a gospel outreach program that is sponsored by the Youth Ministries program at Liberty. Its purpose is to present scenes of death to confront visitors with the question "What happens after we die?" Over the last 40 years, it has reached nearly 300,000 people from VA and neighboring states. Crazy stuff. What's even more amazing is that 26,000 of those visitors made public decisions for Christ. PTL! After people go through the entire maze/house, a student presents the gospel and leads the group in a prayer for those who are willing to accept. It seems to be a powerful moment for some. I remember going during my freshman year and being scared half out of my mind, but having a super fun time waiting in line with friends and hanging on to them for dear life. :)

This year was no different, except for the fact that I prepared myself for most of it. The only exception is the people that jump out and scream in the dark. There is nothing that can prepare you for that. Nothing. Well done, Scaremare. Well done. Throughout the maze, photographers snapped pictures of unknowing students as they walked through tight, unlit corners. Here's some wonderful, hilarious photos of the fun...all for your enjoyment. All photos taken from Scaremare's Facebook page.

Hope your Monday just got a little more funny!
