Friday, January 18, 2013 White as Snow

As someone coming from a country (Sweden) that has snow for a majority of the winter you would think I would be sick of it, but no!! I am like a little child in a candy store when it snows! Last night the awful rain turned into snow around 5:30 and I sat at my window for a good hour just watching the ground quickly get covered in snow. There is just something so peaceful about seeing snow fall and turn the ground white.

For the past few months there has been construction going on all over campus and the red Virginia clay has been making and appearance quite frequently. When this snow came and covered up all of the redness it was such an incredible reminder of Isaiah 1:18a (ESV). It says “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” This is such a beautiful picture of how we are forgiven for our sins. I always love looking at analogies in nature for what God has done for us!

So wherever you are this week, whether you have snow or if its beautiful and sunny, remember what Christ did for you on the cross. He can wash you white as snow. Isn’t that such a cool promise!?
