Wednesday, November 28, 2012 Almost There!

With Thanksgiving break past us, here at Liberty we only have one week left of classes!! Next Wednesday we have reading day and then Thursday we begin finals.  Every time we get to the end of the semester I am shocked at how fast it flew by.  It seems like just yesterday I was beginning classes, terrified of how I was going to succeed in my courses.  But here we are and I managed to survive all my classes and really learn a lot of great material! Before I know it, I’ll be sitting on the plane on my way back to Sweden for Christmas!!!

So today I thought I would give a little finals advice.  I wish I could say that I do all of these perfectly but I am just your average college student!

1) Don’t procrastinate. The number one piece of advice I can give is to NOT wait until the last minute to study. You might be able to remember some of the material but most likely you’ll end up staying up really late for no reason and get distracted by friends! I definitely have the hardest time with this because I work really well under pressure but I always end up getting stressed for no reason. So get a head start and avoid chaos!!

2) Stay Healthy. Another great piece of advice is to make sure you continue healthy habits of exercising, eating right, drinking water, and limiting caffeine. If your body isn’t used to excessive amounts of caffeine then it could actually make you feel worse instead of helping you stay awake! If you're eating well and exercising you'll actually have more energy!

3) Sleep. I hear of students pulling all-nighters all the time during finals week and I’m always curious to ask them if those extra 5 hours of studying was worth it! God designed our bodies to need sleep, and it’s actually shown in studies that students remember more when they sleep than when they don’t. I guess that’s the psych nerd in me who loves research!! I can kind of understand all-nighters for assignment and papers but just to study a few extra hours is pointless to me, get an early start.

And when all else fails, watch this funny video from Messy Mondays about finals!
