How to Create a Persistent Link

Type or paste the URL of the desired resource into the box below and press "Submit".

You may generate direct links in BlackBoard to full-text articles found in many of the Integrated Learning Resource Center’s subscription journal databases. Distance learning and off-campus students can click on these links and go directly to the article, without needing to first login to the Off-Campus Access to Databases (EZproxy) page. This will save your students time in accessing specific articles you want them to read.

Note: Some databases, including Lexis/Nexis Academic, do not support this feature.

You will first need to collect a Persistent URL (PURL) link to the article, as described below. To create a link that will work off campus, it needs to begin with the string below (the utility above adds this automatically):
http://www.liberty.edu:2048/login?url=

General Database Directions
Gale, Proquest, etc.

  • Copy the article URL
  • Paste the URL into the utility above and click "Submit"
Before it can be accessed off-campus, the persistent link needs to be run through the utility above to add the "ezproxifying" prefix

Ebsco Directions

  • Open the article you want to link, select "Permalink" from the Tools menu.

  • A Persistent link will appear at the top of the article, as shown below.

  • You can then copy and paste this link into BlackBoard as an 'External Link', and it will link your student directly to the article in the database.

Note: Ebsco Persistent links already include the off-campus access information, therefore they do not need to be run through the utility at the top if this page.
