The Spiritual Life Department exists to provide opportunities for the Liberty University family to pursue Christ-likeness, obeying the Great Commission through living the Great Commandment. A variety of worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry, and evangelism opportunities are presented each year to help facilitate spiritual growth within the Liberty University family. To highlight a few: Campus Church is an exciting, well-attended worship experience twice a week with relevant messages from our Campus Pastors and energetic praise and worship led by our own Campus Praise Band. The Campus Pastor’s Office offers pastoral counseling, discipleship services for students, along with crisis intervention. A substantial part of the Pastor’s Office is a Prayer Room set apart as a quiet sanctuary for students to pray personally or with others. The Spiritual Life Director Program places two student leaders on each hall to facilitate weekly Prayer Groups so that every student on campus is loved, prayed for, prayed with, and discipled. These Spiritual Life Directors attend weekly training meetings and personally disciple each of the prayer group leaders (Prayer Leaders) on their respective floors. The Prayer Leader program gets students on the halls involved in ministry by leading a prayer group of five students from their floor. With close to 1000 student leaders currently in place, every student on campus is being cared for on an individual basis. Essentially the campus is broken up into a one-to-five ratio with trained student leaders ministering to each group.
Light Trips exists for the purpose of enabling Christians to participate in the fulfillment of the Great Commission through short-term cross-cultural ministry. Light utilizes the ministries of the Light Singers and Missions Directors to inform and encourage students to serve God through short-term missions. For students surrendered to long-term missions, Light Trips offers resources and contacts with missions organizations throughout the globe.
