Ten Liberty University Distinctives
No Other University Can Claim

Liberty University surely is not the only Christian school in America. But I sincerely believe Liberty is the finest for training champions for Christ. Here is why:

1. Academic excellence in a Christ-centered  environment. Liberty is accredited by SACS* to award associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level degrees.
    
2. A commitment to training visionary champions for Christ.  Chapel and convocation speakers are leaders from the worlds of business, education,  athletics, government, many professions and the Gospel ministry. These champions join hands with our faculty and chancellor in challenging Liberty students to become visionaries and to win the world for Christ from their vocational platforms.
    
3. An action-oriented curriculum. Our students have numerous internship opportunities during their first four years in Washington, D.C., across America, and on mission fields worldwide. They learn by doing.
    
4. An uncompromising doctrinal statement, based upon an inerrant Bible, a Christian worldview beginning with belief in biblical Creationism, an eschatological belief in the pre-millennial, pre-tribulational coming of Christ for all of His Church, dedication to world evangelization, an absolute repudiation of “political correctness,” a strong commitment to political conservatism, total rejection of socialism, and firm support for America’s economic system of free enterprise.
    
5. Behavioral standards which include the prohibition of drug, alcohol and tobacco use, coed residence halls, and sexual promiscuity.
    
6. A modest dress code, reasonable curfews and respect for authority.
    
7. A highly-qualified, non-tenured teaching faculty. More than 68% have terminal degrees. Unlike many major universities, graduate assistants do not stand-in for faculty. The faculty does the teaching.
    
8. Eighteen highly competitive NCAA Division I athletic programs for men and women, including football.
    
9. Tuition costs which are in the bottom 10% of all private colleges and universities in America.
    
10. Required attendance at convocations and chapels three times weekly. Our student body also attends church services weekly, although church attendance is voluntary. A perpetual spirit of revival pervades the campus.

What other fully-accredited liberal arts university in America can make all ten of these claims? To God be all the glory for what He has accomplished. Our goal in the next 20 years is to reach an enrollment of 50,000 students (resident and external) here in Lynchburg, Va., on this 5,000-acre campus called Liberty Mountain, and worldwide.
