Candidacy Exam

Counselor Education and Supervision doctoral students demonstrate mastery of the following competency areas prior to embarking on dissertation research:

  • Teaching
  • Supervision
  • Counseling
  • Scholarship
  • Leadership and Professional Involvement 

Demonstration of these competencies are accomplished through portfolio components required in the Candidacy Examination.
