Dr. Howell research focuses on the effects of shoes on foot anatomy and the human gait. In 2010, he published a book (The Barefoot Book: 50 Great Reasons to Kick Off Your Shoes) in which he advocates going barefoot more often to improve your health. The book has been translated into several languages and Dr. Howell was featured in a Korean documentary on the benefits of barefoot activities. He has been interviewed by MSNBC, the TODAY Show, Washington Post, Popular Science, Energy Times, Answers magazine, Liberty Journal, and many more print, radio and television outlets. Dr. Howell has been invited to speak on the subject of foot health from Portland, OR to London, UK.

Dr. Howell's most recent book, Sometimes Deceived: Why Evolution is Fake Science, exposes the underlying assumptions and logical fallacies behind the theory of biological evolution. Charles Darwin is recognized for discovering the mechanism of biological evolution - natural selection - but in this book, Dr. Howell reveals that Darwin actually achieved something far greater. By crafting a new creation myth for the atheist's worldview, Darwin filled the proverbial vacuum that Nature so abhors. Prior to Darwin, atheists could reject God and the traditional creation story, but they had no replacement. If God didn't create, where did the cosmos come from? How did life on Earth begin? Darwin supplied an answer, but his idea was nothign less than a full-frontal assault on the Judeo-Christian establishment of Western civilization. Darwin provided a new creation myth for the only worldview that lacked one, an accomplishment perhaps bigger than just discovering the origin of biological species.
