Dr. Timothy Saxon came to Liberty University in 2003. He earned his B.A. from Averett College, his MDiv from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the MA and PhD in Modern European history from the University of Virginia. An ordained Baptist minister, Dr. Saxon pastored four Virginia Baptist churches before coming to Liberty. He taught at Paul D. Camp, and Blue Ridge community colleges, the University of Virginia, and Charleston Southern University.

A specialist in Modern European history, his work has appeared in the Naval War College Review and Defence Studies, the journal of the British Joint Services Command and Staff College. He has represented the United States as a delegate to the International Congress of Military History. 

When not teaching or writing, Dr. Saxon is often seen in the company of his wife, Gayle, talking with students in the halls of Liberty University. His son is a graduate of Liberty University.
