Applying for Financial Aid

In connection with preparing for your college education, be sure to explore the financial aid options that are available to you. Options could include grants, loans, scholarships and work study, depending on your individual needs and other qualifying criteria.

The links to the right provide important information concerning the cost of attending Liberty, as well as the conditions under which aid may be available to you.

If you are interested in Federal Loans or Liberty University Scholarships complete the following steps:
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. In order to determine eligibility for both state and federal assistance from grant, work-study, and loan programs, it is required that all U.S. citizens (and eligible non-citizens) complete the FAFSA each school year. We recommend that you renew your FAFSA at least 4 months before you intend to start classes to allow sufficient time for your financial aid to be in place by your projected start date.
  • Include Liberty’s school code, 010392, on your FAFSA. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid not only allows you to be considered for federal aid, but it provides the information from which most need-based financial assistance is calculated.

In order to receive any Liberty University scholarships you must fill out a FAFSA.

Deadlines

Liberty’s FAFSA priority deadline: March 1st
Because of the time required for the process from your FAFSA submission to actually applying for and bringing in a student loan, Liberty University’s Financial Aid department highly recommends that you submit your FAFSA by March 1st of each year.

The FAFSA is available online as early as January 1st of any given year. If you file your FAFSA prior to March 1st, the chances of not having your aid processed in time for the start of the Fall semester are greatly reduced.
If you are unable to meet this priority deadline, please complete the FAFSA as soon as possible. Your Financial Aid processing cannot be initiated until your FAFSA has been received.

Verification document priority deadline - June 1st

If you were selected for verification, submit all documentation as soon as possible to prevent a delay in your aid processing or a loss of your aid eligiblity.

Loan Priority Deadline: June 30th

Once you have filed your FAFSA, make sure to complete an online loan application by this date.
