Independent & Graduate Housing

Independent Housing

2019-20 Independent On-Campus Living

Stay on campus while experiencing benefits of off-campus living. Through the Independent & Graduate Housing program, you can remain close to your classes as well as campus dining and recreational facilities while enjoying some of the freedoms of living off-campus.

For the 2019-2020 academic year*, the Office of Residence Life is making this option available to qualifying upperclassmen and graduate students.

2019 Application Timeline:

  • March 1 - Application opens online (on this webpage)
  • March 22 - Application due
  • April 15 - Notification of approval or denial
  • April 29 - Notification of placement/room assignment

Location: East Campus

All rooms will be set up like other halls on East Campus, including all amenities of a standard East Campus residence hall:

  • 2 students per room in A & C rooms
  • 3 students per room in B rooms

Benefits

  • No curfew
  • Unique student demographic
  • "Older" community

All other expectations will still apply:

Eligibility

To qualify, you must either be:

  • junior, senior, or graduate student in the semester of residence in this program, if under 25 years old, OR
  • A residential student, age 25-30

Points: You must have less than 12 points accumulated over the course of the previous academic year; you must also not exceed 12 points during the course of the program year (doing so may lead to a required move to another residence hall or off campus).

Space & Cost

Space is very limited. Residence Life will make the final decisions as to which of the qualified applicants will be approved or denied entry to the program. Pricing will be consistent with other halls on East Campus (no additional fees or higher rates) and will continue to be managed through your ASIST account and Financial Check-In.

Independent Living

Each Independent & Graduate Housing program building will have two Resident Assistants and a team of Resident Shepherds (RS) and Community Group Leaders (CGL).

Roommate requests may be indicated on the application. Although there are no guarantees, we will do our best to fulfill each request, provided both applicants included in the request are approved for the program.

You will still be required to purchase an on-campus meal plan.

CFAW guests will not be hosted within the Independent & Graduate Housing program buildings unless specifically requested.

If you want to stay on campus during the summer, you will be required to move to Summer Housing.

*Independent & Graduate Housing is a pilot program designed only for the 2019-20 academic year. It may or may not continue in future academic years.
