Sean Gaffney, winner of LU's first
Playwriting Competition!

Congratulations to Sean Gaffney for winning the first annual Playwriting Competition with his play, Stand Partners.

Mr. Gaffney has authored twenty-nine produced plays, four commissioned television pilots, two published chapter books, as well as seventy plus produced videos, animation projects and short films (including for Big Idea, SuperBook, Yake Films and Globalstage). He is a playwright, screenwriter, director, teacher and producer. He was the Story Administrator for Warner Bros. Features, has been the Master Teacher for Act One: Writing for Hollywood, and adjunct faculty at Biola University.

He now oversees the Regent University Script and Screenwriting M.F.A. and Scriptwriting M.A. He received his B.F.A. from Drake University, his M.F.A. from Columbia University, and studied with Act One: Writing for Hollywood. Sean’s feature film, In-Lawfully Yours, with Corbin Bernsen’s Home Theater Films, was recently released.

As the winner, Mr. Gaffney will receive a monetary award, as well as a workshop production of his play, Stand Partners, at Liberty University. The play will be produced in May 2017 as the opening production in Liberty's new Black Box theatre.

Playwriting Competition

Eligibility

Eligible Playwrights are those who reside within the Continental United States. Liberty University students, faculty, staff, and immediate family of faculty or staff are not eligible competitors.  Alumni and immediate family of students or student workers, however, are eligible.

Submit a Play

Dates for the second annual playwriting competition are to be announced.
