Application Guidelines

Transfer and Current Students

You must have been admitted or concurrently in the process of applying to Liberty University in order to be accepted into the Honors Program. Admission to Liberty University's Honors Program is competitive, and enrollment is limited.

Applications will only be considered if received or postmarked by March 1. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

The number of Honors scholarships is limited, so students are encouraged to make application to the program early in the spring semester. Honors Program acceptance letters will be emailed by or before May 1.

Apply to Liberty University's Honors Program

1. Application

Be sure to fully complete the Honors application.

2. Transcripts (3.50 GPA)

  • Liberty University students can print their unofficial transcript from ASIST.
  • Transfer students must include an official transcript as part of your packet. If your school requires transcripts to be mailed directly, use mailing address below. Although the Liberty University's Registrar may have transcripts, you must submit transcripts directly to the Honors Office as a part of the application packet.
  • Transcripts must show no more than 60 college credits (including spring semester).
     

3. Essay   

Include an expository essay of four to five typed pages on the topic “What I Hope to Gain from an Honors Program Education at Liberty University.” After researching our website, describe how you would benefit from our Honors program curriculum. The essay should be doubled spaced with one inch margins and 12-point Times New Roman font.

  • Essays less than four pages will not be read.

4. Letters of Recommendation

Submit two letters of recommendation from professors. These should be written on school or business letterhead (if available). The writer is to place the letter in an envelope, seal it, and sign across the flap. Letters of recommendation should address areas such as your intelligence, your critical thinking, your creative problem-solving abilities, and their estimation of your potential to succeed academically in an Honors program curriculum. The recommendation letter must be in professional letter format rather than a generated form.

Liberty professors can email letters of recommendation to honorsprogram@liberty.edu.

It the student's responsibility to check with the Honors Office by emailing honorsprogram@liberty.edu to be sure the application is complete by the due date. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

5. Mail to

Applications must be postmarked by March 1.

When applying, it is preferred that you send all the materials in a single envelope. If that is not possible, we will collect your documents together. You are responsible to ensure your application is complete. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
