Varsity Club

History

The Varsity Club, originally named the Liberty University Letterman’s Association, was pioneered by former Flames Football Coach Morgan Hout in 2012. The Varsity Club has been expanded to include all former Club Sports and NCAA student-athletes, and membership is now free. The club provides many benefits to its members, including a free introductory year-long membership to the Flames Club.

Designed to connect former student-athletes to each other, to Liberty, and to Christ, the Varsity Club is an important vehicle to ensure that all alumni-athletes continue their journey as Champions for Christ.

Coach Morgan Hout brings more than 35 years of experience to the Liberty University Varsity Club. In just five years as a Liberty football coach, he took the team from Division II to Division I-AA. Some of his players have gone on to play in the NFL, including the Dolphins’ Fred Banks and the Steelers’ Richard Shelton.

In 1989, he accepted a coaching position at Baylor University. He returned to work at Liberty’s Visitors Center in 2012 by invitation from President Jerry Falwell, Jr. The Varsity Club is honored to consider Coach Hout a founding member.
