The M.S. in Biomedical Sciences is a 39-hour program for post-baccalaureate academic enhancement designed to:

  • Improve students’ academic record and increase their chances of admission to medical school and related graduate programs
  • Equip those who wish to teach at the post-secondary level
  • Provide a graduate-level degree for those seeking advancement in private industry

Students who intend to apply to LUCOM upon completion of the MS Biomedical Sciences program must meet LUCOM's admissions standards including the minimum MCAT requirement.  For more information, visit LUCOM's admissions webpage.


Admissions Requirements

One Year Program (preferred for medical school)

  • $50 application fee (deferred until financial Check-In)
  • Unofficial college transcripts with a completed Transcript Request Form. An official final college transcript showing a completed Bachelor’s degree is required before first semester enrollment.
    • Regionally or nationally accredited Bachelor’s degree with at least a 2.75 GPA for admission in to the one year program. (2.5 to 2.74 may be admitted on caution)
    • 1 year of General Chemistry with lab.
    • 1 year of Biology with lab.
    • 1 semester of Organic Chemistry with residential lab (2 semesters recommended).
    • 1 semester of Physics with residential lab (2 semesters recommended).
    • Any four of the following courses:*
      • One year of Anatomy/Physiology OR one semester of Physiology OR one Semester of Anatomy
      • One semester of Genetics
      • One semester of Microbiology
      • One semester of Cell Biology
      • One semester of Biochemistry
      • *Students who have not completed four of the six prerequisite courses will be required to enroll in BIOM 500 (Introduction to Biomedical Science) and receive a minimum grade of B-.
      • One semester of Biostatistics is recommended but not required.
  • Students must submit one of the following tests with a minimum score of:
    • MCAT - New scoring system (2015 and later): composite score of 493; Old scoring system (prior to 2015): 20
  • Self Certification Form (for students in the final term of their bachelor's degree)
  • Current Liberty undergraduate students seeking preliminary acceptance into a graduate program must complete a Graduation Application through their ASIST Account.

    • GRE Verbal 140; Quantitative 145
    • DAT 14.5 Average
    • PCAT 70 or higher
  • Self Certification Form (for students in the final term of their bachelor's degree)
  • Current Liberty undergraduate students seeking preliminary acceptance into a graduate program must complete a Graduation Application through their ASIST Account.
