LifePoint Medical Systems (LMS) was founded in 1999 on the idea that everyone deserves quality healthcare close to home and with strong hospitals sharing the same mission: Making Communities Healthier. LMS recognizes that every community has unique healthcare needs, and for more than a decade, has been able to ensure the highest standards of quality care and excellent service to patients. LifePoint has invested in state-of-the-art technology, facility improvements, physician recruitment and staff development. LMS is the sole hospital provider in most of our communities and, in 2011, became the only private organization in the country chosen by the Department of Health and Human Services to be a Hospital Engagement Network in the Partnership for Patients initiative, a nationwide public-private collaboration to improve the quality, safety, and affordability of healthcare for all Americans.
For more than 120 years, Danville Regional Medical Center (DRMC) has been part of the close-knit fabric of the Dan River community, always close at hand when health needs arise. Licensed for 250 beds, DRMC is the most comprehensive source of healthcare in the Dan River Region of Virginia and North Carolina providing over 25 medical specialties and 14 surgical services. Danville Regional has the largest, leading-edge surgical capacity with advanced capabilities (including 13 state-of-the art surgical suites), open-heart surgeries and other complicated procedures in the area, including those usually found only at large teaching hospitals.
