Book Vouchers, Book Dollars, & Flames Cash

Students utilizing certain types of financial aid or a payment plan may pay for course materials by requesting a book voucher.

  • Requested through Financial Check-In (FCI).  Book Vouchers are charged to the student account and can be incorporated into payment plan arrangements.
  • Available approximately six weeks prior to the start of the semester.
  • Additional funds may be added to a current Book Voucher through FCI.  The student must recomplete FCI to save their changes.
    • A student cannot decrease their current Book Voucher amount in FCI. 
      • Any unused Book Voucher funds will be returned to the student's account prior to the end of the semester. 
  • Resident students:  The Book Voucher is available through the student’s Flames Pass and can only be used at the on-campus Barnes & Noble bookstore.
  • Online students:  The Book Voucher can only be used at the online bookstore, MBS Direct.  If a voucher is requested within the six weeks prior to the start of the semester, the voucher should be available approximately 24-72 hours after the request was submitted.  A confirmation number and instructions will be sent to the student’s Liberty email from MBS Direct.  For books and shipping costs, contact MBS Direct at (800) 325-3252 or visit MBS Direct.
  • Military students:  Qualified military students and their spouses are awarded a Military Book Voucher.  This voucher is separate from a Book Voucher requested in FCI.  Please see the Military Book Voucher page for more information.
    • Military book voucher funds that go unused will not be carried over as a credit or refunded.
  • Awarded to qualified new resident students only during their first semester.
  • Funds are automatically released to the Flames Pass approximately 20 days prior to the start of classes.
  • Must be used at the on-campus Barnes & Noble bookstore.
  • Funds expire prior to the end of each semester.  Contact the Office of Resident Admissions regarding the expiration date.
  • Any unused Book Dollar amounts will not be refunded or carried over as a future credit.
  • Students are able to exchange unused Book Dollars for Barnes & Noble gift cards four weeks after the start of the semester and prior to the expiration date.
  • Requested in Financial Check-In (FCI).  Flames Cash is charged to the student account and can be incorporated into payment plan arrangements.
  • Available approximately six weeks prior to the start of the semester.
  • Accessed through Flames Pass. 
  • Can be used at the on-campus Barnes & Noble bookstore and a variety of Liberty approved vendors on and off campus.
  • Does not expire and will not be returned to a student's account.
