Virginia Army National Guard soldiers may be eligible to receive both Federal and State TA. Federal TA is capped at $4,500 per military fiscal year and State TA is capped at $2,500 per semester (up to $7,500 per year). Soldiers may also get up to $350 in TA for books.
Process:
Step 1: Complete the Admissions Check list or apply for Financial Aid.
Step 2: Register for courses.
Step 3: Apply for Federal TA
To request Federal TA, Virginia Army National Guard soldiers will need to go through the GoArmyEd (GAE) portal. Please see our GoArmyEd Tuition Assistance page for more information on requesting TA through the GAE portal.
Step 4: Apply for State TA
To request State TA, Virginia Army National Guard soldiers must go to the Virginia Army National Guard website.
Click "Education Services" on left navigation.
Step 5: The Education Service Office (ESO) at Ft. Pickett will send the Office of Military Affairs a TA Roster for the semester.
Step 6: Once you receive an email stating your TA has been posted to your student account, please complete Financial Check-in (if you have not already done so).
