H1N1 Influenza Information

University officials and experts are working closely with federal, state, and local public health offices to ensure that the Liberty University community is kept abreast of the potential H1N1 outbreak.

Pandemic Influenza (flu) is a worldwide outbreak of a new flu virus for which there is little or no immunity (protection) in the human population. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the current H1N1 virus (swine flu or novel flu) to be pandemic. Pandemic flu can spread easily from person-to-person. Throughout the summer sporadic cases of the Novel H1N1 influenza have been diagnosed in the Central Virginia area, including a few cases among persons associated with Liberty University.

It is very important to plan ahead. Federal, state and local governments are taking steps to better prepare for and respond to a pandemic. Students, faculty and staff at Liberty University also need to take action to be better prepared.
