The King's Players is a touring repertory theatre company that focuses on Christian drama and ministry. KP was organized and began touring in 1960 with another college before coming to Liberty in 1973. The King's Players Christian drama ministry has had the pleasure of ministering to over 5,000 churches, bringing an average of 200 people a year to know the Lord as their personal Savior. The King's Players is the oldest ministry of Liberty University.
Our purpose is to serve and minister in numerous churches, detention homes, prisons and Christian schools. Theatre is used to evoke powerful responses from audiences depending on the nature of the message. On King's Players, we believe and have seen through experience, that the presentation of the Gospel through this medium can evoke this powerful response. We want to do more than present a play or a skit. We want to use music, testimonies and drama to present a meaningful worship experience.
We look for talented individuals with a heart to serve God. While there are thousands of students on campus, only a select few will represent our Lord and Liberty University in this ministry. Auditions are usually held at the beginning of the fall semester, and members give a two-semester commitment.
The ministry offers several programs.
Days of Glory
These evangelistic dramas offer suspense, thrill and most importantly, the Gospel.
The King's Players minister for the United States Marines Corps at Parris Island, S.C. Six performances were given to over 4,000 troops at Parris Island, one of the nation's most demanding military training camps. Despite strong peer pressure, these men made a public profession of faith. Over 400 men and women accepted Christ as their personal savior! These soldiers then enrolled in a 10-week discipleship course.
