Visulite Cinemas, a major attraction at Liberty University's Plaza shopping center in midtown Lynchburg, is converting to a "discount house" format. Starting on Friday, Oct. 12, all tickets will be $2.
The theater has planned a balanced lineup of eight films.
Visulite Cinemas opened in the old Carmike 8 building at the center in August 2011 and has helped to revive the 50-year-old, 42-acre shopping center.
Liberty received the Plaza shopping center as a donation from an Arizona real estate development firm five years ago. At the time, only 50 percent of the space had been leased. Now, the center is booming with business, with occupancy at 90 percent.
