Liberty hires new Director of Purchasing

Following a nationwide search and comprehensive interview process, Liberty University welcomed Jamie Hill as its new director of purchasing on June 4.

Hill has a B.S. in management from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, and has held the position of director of purchasing with several companies, including Family Dollar Stores and QEP, a product line specializing in installation tools that sells to businesses like Home Depot and Lowes.

The university contracted with Dixon Hughes Goodman, LLP, to provide candidates for the position.

Hill said he is thankful that God opened this door for him and his family and is excited to start the new school year.

“It’s exciting to be in a university environment; up until now it has been manufacturing and retail, so it’s a big change and I think that I am going to be able to use all of the skills that I have from the retail and manufacturing side, as far as cost-savings go, to save the university a lot of money,” Hill said.

The purchasing department’s goal is to provide the Liberty community with what it needs, when it is needed, while acting as an effective and proactive steward of university resources.

“We make sure that those around the university who are allowed to spend money do so based on the rules and requirements that Liberty has set forth and that the government sets forth. ... We also support all of the departments that support the students,” Hill said.

Hill is also a U.S. Air Force veteran who served his country on active duty and in the reserves for more than 12 years. He and his wife, Rhonda, have four children. His family is relocating from Charlotte, N.C., to Lynchburg in July.
