The Liberty University football team forced four turnovers and scored on seven of its first 10 drives, rolling to a convincing, conference-clinching 56-14 victory over No. 18/16 Charleston Southern, Saturday afternoon, at Buccaneer Field.
The victory, Liberty's fifth in a row, pushes the Flames record to 8-4 on the season and to 4-1 in the Big South Conference. Liberty shares the conference title with No. 11/7 Coastal Carolina, who finished up conference play last week with a 46-13 victory over Presbyterian College.
The win also marks Liberty's second victory over a Top 25 program under head coach Turner Gill and the second-highest ranked team Liberty has beaten on the road in program history.
Liberty claims its sixth Big South title in the last seven years, tying Coastal Carolina for the most titles in conference history. During the last seven years, Liberty has posted a 34-5 Big South record.
