Coming in at No. 7 in this week’s ACHA Division I men’s hockey computer rankings, Liberty University will put its 14-1 record to the test against fourth-ranked Delaware (11-2-1) this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the LaHaye Ice Center.
The Flames are on a seven-game winning streak going into the weekend.
Offensively, the Flames are among the highest-scoring teams in the country, with 78 goals in 15 games (5.3 goals per game).
Freshman forward Robert Ward is the ACHA DI rookie points leader with 22 (6 goals, 16 assists). Freshman goalie Matt Pinel is tied for first in the ACHA DI for wins with nine, and senior Blair Bennett ranks 11th among goalies with two or more decisions with a 1.48 goals-against-average.
No. 11 Ohio (9-4-1), which Liberty swept on its home ice Oct. 4-5, is the highest-ranked team the Flames have faced to date. Next semester, Liberty will travel to play No. 2 Arizona State (16-0), which was replaced at No. 1 by defending national champion Minot State (9-0-1) in this week’s rankings.
