Liberty University graphic designers received eight awards in the recent American Inhouse Design Awards competition.
The contest included 5,000 entries representing 500 in-house design departments nationwide.

Mark Hall, lead singer of the top Christian band Casting Crowns, was a busy man at Liberty University on Saturday. During the day, he was a speaker at the Momentum Youth Ministry Conference and at night he performed for the College For A Weekend concert.

The Vines Center at Liberty University filled up fast for Friday’s convocation services as guests to the university’s College For A Weekend event filed in.
College For A Weekend, or CFAW, is an opportunity for prospective students to experience campus life at Liberty. It is held four times a year.

NASA astronaut Leland Melvin, a Lynchburg native, spoke at Liberty University’s convocation service Monday and he brought with him video from his mission to space aboard Space Shuttle Atlantis, Feb. 7-20.

Select students, faculty and university leaders were invited to a screening of a new film from the makers of “Facing the Giants” Thursday in Liberty University’s School of Law Supreme Courtroom.
“Fireproof” features lead actor Kirk Cameron and more than 1,000 volunteers from Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga., where it was filmed.

Former NFL player Derwin Gray spoke at convocation service at Liberty University Friday. Gray is founder of One Heart at a Time ministries and a pastor with theGathering, a multi-ethnic church in Charlotte, N.C.
Gray, who has made radio and television appearances and is known for the movie, “Evangelism Linebacker,” challenged Liberty students to “marinate” with him on the issue of brokenness.

Dr. Laurence White, senior pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas, and an outspoken pro-lifer, was the featured speaker at Wednesday’s convocation service.
Liberty University awarded White a Doctor of Divinity degree in 1997 for his tireless work on behalf of the nation’s unborn.

Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr. announced during Wednesday’s convocation that two Liberty University theatre arts students have been given the opportunity of a lifetime.
Sophomores Joshua DeVries and Cody Carwile have been cast as brothers in “Billy: The Early Years,” a major motion picture on the life of Billy Graham scheduled for release in late 2008/early 2009.
