Flames Club - About the Flames Club

The Flames Club 1979 to 2014 – 35 Years of History

The Flames Club began in 1979 as the Big Blue Club, and has undergone a series of name changes over the past 35 years:

• Big Blue Club – 1979 to 1980
• LBC Scholarship Foundation Association (SFA) – 1980 to 1983
• Talon Club – 1983 to 1990
• LU Athletic Association (LUAA) – 1990 to 2001
• Flames Club – 2001 to present

The Flames Club enjoyed a ninth consecutive year of record growth when 625 members contributed $571,000 to the 2013 Annual Fund. This represented a 12% increase in the number of members from 2012 and a 21% increase in dollar contributions.

The Flames Club – Where You Come In

The Flames Club is inseparably linked to the success of Liberty University Athletics, and is the channel through which Flames Nation---alumni, ticket buyers, former student-athletes, fans, supporters, local businesses, parents, and family---can participate with our coaches and student-athletes in the success of our program. With the ever-increasing cost of competing at the NCAA Division I level, a dynamic booster club is critical to putting the strongest possible teams on the field, court, track, course, and in the pool. The mission of the Flames Club is to raise financial support for Liberty University Athletics and to ensure that our coaches and student-athletes have everything they need to compete for championships.

Members of the Flames Club enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that their gifts are ultimately investments in the lives of our student-athletes. These gifts help to provide our student-athletes with the academic foundation and spiritual training unique to Liberty University, along with the disciplines learned through athletics competition that are essential to success in life. Flames Club members can also be rewarded with preferred parking, seating, and hospitality privileges; based upon membership level. Benefits may also be refused for maximum tax deductibility (see your tax advisor).
