MATH or READING Specialist - Licensure
NOTE: Early Childhood and Gifted Programs have moved to M.Ed. Teaching & Learning
Requirements:

State teaching license required:
- Reading Specialists must have elementary, secondary, or special education license
- Math Specialist must have math teaching license (middle or secondary)

Teaching experience [may be acquired during MEd program]:
- Three years experience required for Math or Reading Specialist license
(at least ONE year of teaching experience must be completed PRIOR to EDUC 699 Internship)

Intensives: EDUC 622, 641, and 645

Field experiences and internship EDUC 699-A03

Licensure test by Gate 3 [passing score PRIOR to internship]
- Math Specialist: Praxis II 0069 Middle School Mathematics=163 or
Praxis II 0061 Math:Content Knowledge=147
- Reading Specialist:
VRA002=245 (prior to 7/2011)
or RVE (Reading Specialist Assessment) = 162 (7/2011 and after)
EDUC 554 required BEFORE taking the RVE. RVE now available out-of-state (Instructions).
* Summer/Fall 2011 testing windows: 7/18-23, 9/12-17, 10/10-15, and 11/7-12.
